WATCH: Daring theft of cash machine in U.K. foiled by police

New video shows a group of men stealing a cash machine from a university in the U.K. by ripping it from a building using a vehicle.

The footage released by police in Norfolk, England shows three men using a rope attached to a Mercedes to rip an ATM from its hinges, sending it flying several feet into the air.

The daring robbery happened at the University of East Anglia (UEA) where thieves took off with the ATM containing an estimated £10,000.

Additional video taken from the dashboard cam of a Norfolk police vehicle shows the trio attempting to make a getaway before being slammed by the approaching police cruiser.

John Eli Loveridge, 38, his son John Stanley Loveridge, 19, and 34-year-old Leonard Smith were arrested and sentenced to a total 14 years in jail after they pled guilty to an additional series of robberies, according to The Telegraph.

Norfolk police said they were investigating the group after a series of “ram-raids” targeting ATMs in the fall of last year.

Police said the investigation also focused on a series of home burglaries in the region where high-powered vehicles were being stolen prior to the ATMs being stolen.
