Friday October 3rd on The Morning News

We’ll meet two new food tenants at Sunnyside Mall at 6:45. As Canadian tastes shift from fast, processed meals and drinks to higher quality, handmade, local food – the Bedford shopping centre is bringing in four new vendors to reflect the changing tastes of consumers.

At 7:15 we’ll get a preview of Photopolis – Halifax’s Festival of Photography.  It’s a month-long celebration of photography that encourages members of the public to look at photos,  get inspired and even learn some new skills.   Photographer/Organizer Eliot Wright gives us a snapshot of what’s coming up.

At 7:45 we’ll get an update from talented Halifax hip-hop artist Cam Smith. He’s got a new album and he’s been nominated for a bunch of Music Nova Scotia awards and we’ll ask him more about his deal with Reebok!

Global’s investigative news program 16 x 9 is returning for season seven on Saturday night.  At 8:15 we’ll get a preview of the first episode with Sean O’Shea who will have a feature story about men in the Siberian forest who risk their lives for the chance to make a fortune, cutting timber  – a crime that involves Russian mob bosses, Chinese middlemen and some of the biggest corporations in the United States and Canada.

At 8:45 we’ll be joined by Stephanie Beaumont of Sea & Be Scene with a rundown of what to look out for from movies and TV shows with an east coast connection. Stephanie has the latest on Ellen Page, and a new movie filmed in the Valley called “Big Driver.”
