Raw video: One confirmed dead in Beauharnois fire
MONTREAL — A 72-year-old woman has died in an early morning fire in Beauharnois.
The blaze began around midnight in an apartment building on Des Écossais Street and De La Laiterie Streets.
One of the 30 firefighters battling the blaze was injured.
According to neighbours, the fourplex was owned by the elderly woman and her husband, who was transported to hospital to be treated for shock.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the fire, and the case has been transferred to Chateauguay police.
