WINNIPEG – A fire that closed a school in The Pas, Man., is being investigated as arson, RCMP say.
The fire, which was reported at about 2 a.m. on Sept. 28, gutted the central part of the school and caused extensive water and smoke damage to most of the rest of the building.
Police did not suspect arson at first but announced Wednesday that they and the Office of the Fire Commissioner are investigating how the blaze was set.
No one was injured in the fire. The school has been closed indefinitely.
Other arrangements for the school’s grades 5 to 12 students are being made. Adult education classes have been moved to University College of the North and the daycare that was in the school is also making arrangements for a temporary location.
