OSOYOOS, BC — He spent the summer working in Osoyoos, and died in an accident at a fruit packing plant the very day he was planning to return home.
Gabriel Gendreau-Martineau had just concluded working at Fernandes Fruit Market in Osoyoos.
Last Friday, a co-worker found the Quebec man at the base of a 20-foot pile of stacked fruit bins.
Initial investigation suggests Gendreau-Martineau had been climbing the stack in the early morning hours, when the top crate came loose, causing him to fall.
RCMP do not believe foul play was involved.
BC Coroners Service and RCMP continue to investigate.
