Bear sets up camp in Calgary dump

Employees at the Spy Hill landfill were in for quite the sight after a bear was spotted in the area Monday afternoon.

Alberta Fish and Wildlife was called immediately and Calgary police blocked off several roads near the landfill.

Initially there was particular concern that the bear may be a small grizzly because of its coloring. It was also reported the animal could be a black bear based on its body shape.

The curious bear tied police up for several hours before it finally climbed a tree near a business in the area.

Fish and Wildlife tranquilized the bear and roads re-opened late Monday afternoon.
