WINNIPEG – The Winnipeg Jets are resting a lot of veterans as they head to Edmonton for a pre-season game Monday.

Minor injuries have taken their toll.

The most serious is an eye injury suffered by off-season acquisition TJ Galiardi that required surgery.

Galiardi said he was worried initially he might lose the sight in his left eye, which was cut by a stick that slipped under his visor during practice.

The eye is healing and he hopes to be cleared to at least start working out soon, he said.

The Jets play back-to-back exhibition games Monday and Tuesday against the Oilers and then the Ottawa Senators.
