Young Prince George man shot in hunting accident

A recent hunting trip took a terrible turn for a young athlete from the Prince George area.

16-year-old Trent Seymour was with two friends Sunday morning in the backwoods when one of them tripped and the gun went off, accidentally shooting Trent in the back.

Seymour is now at VGH with his family at his bedside but his future is uncertain.

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

His spinal cord is severed, and he’s suffered internal damage to several organs.

He’s known as a positive, goal oriented young man. Seymour is an honours student, and a star athlete. He played hockey, and won gold in softball at the 2014 Indigenous Games.

The amount of support the family has been receiving is overwhelming. A Facebook page has been set up to help cover costs of Trent’s recovery, and necessary renovations to his home.
