TORONTO – A brazen carjacking at a hotel in Miami, Florida was captured on security cameras this week.
Surveillance video released by Miami police appears to show suspect Alberto Ruiz nonchalantly jump into a silver Lexus vehicle in the valet of the JW Marriot Marquis in downtown Miami.
Within seconds, the man tries to reverse the vehicle, hitting two hotel employees unloading the trunk. Moments later, he switches direction and slams into the back of another car.
Several valet staff and security try to reason with the man before he manages to break free, hitting more employees.
According to police, Ruiz allegedly dumped the Lexus just a few miles away from the hotel and then went to a nearby motel.
Officers reportedly found Ruiz approximately eight hours later inside a motel room. He was arrested after a brief struggle.
