VERNON – Today was the day many parents and students have been waiting for — the first day of school.
Okanagan kids are back in class — a few weeks late but there was still the usual nervous excitement.

“It is getting really boring just sitting at home playing video games and doing things on weekends,” said Leah as she waited outside of her school, Beairsto Elementary, for class to start.
It was a traditional shortened first day today for kids in the Vernon School District.
Classes will get into full swing tomorrow, the first full day back.
