HALIFAX – RCMP have laid various charges against 19-year-old Cody Andrew Prudhomme after he allegedly stuck an RCMP officer with his vehicle on Saturday.
Police said Prudhomme fled the area in his truck, but was pursued by RCMP officers before crashing on the side of Highway 354.
MacRae adds the suspect was treated in hospital and released.
He said the injured officer is recovering in hospital and there is no word on when he will be released.
The Serious Incident Response Team (SiRT) was called to respond to the incident Saturday night.
SiRT investigates serious incidents that arise from results of police action.
However, after an investigation of the accident where the suspect was injured, SiRT determined the suspect didn’t suffer injuries that met its definition of serious injury.

HALIFAX – A 19-year-old man is in custody after a police chase through East Hants, N.S.
The arrest comes after a Windsor RCMP officer was struck by a truck during a traffic stop just after 6 p.m. on Highway 232 near Windsor, N.S.
“The RCMP officer was attempting to stop a small black truck with a roll bar on the back,” said Cpl. Scott MacRae with Halifax RCMP.
“During the traffic stop, the officer was struck by the truck as the male driver back up and fled the scene.”
The driver was described as a white man with short hair.
Police scoured the area for the vehicle and deployed resources to find the driver.
“Certainly anybody struck by a vehicle, whether a citizen or police officer, gets a lot of attention. Whatever resources we have available would be coordinated by a risk manager. He’ll oversee the deployment of what resources are necessary, working with local officers on the ground and to coordinate check points,” MacRae said.
An hour later, RCMP were involved in a short pursuit then caught the suspect after he crashed his truck on Highway 354 near Bull Meadows Range.
The driver sustained minor injuries and was taken to hospital.
“We have to do a complete investigation but the man is certainly going to face some serious charges,” MacRae said.
The male officer, who is based at the Windsor detachment, suffered lower body injuries.
He was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries but there is no update on the seriousness of his condition.
