WINNIPEG – The Winnipeg Jets have cut six players just days before the team’s training camp starts.
Chase Balisy, Jean Dupuy, Ben Walker, Zach Bell, Ralfs Freibergs and Nikolas Brouillard did not receive an invitation to training camp. Every player but Brouillard has been re-assigned to the AHL’s St. John’s IceCaps. Brouillard will instead report to the QMJHL’s Quebec Remparts.
The Jets’ training camp opens Thursday with medicals and physicals. The first on-ice session is scheduled for Friday morning at MTS Iceplex. Fifty players will try out for a spot on this year’s roster.
Winnipeg’s first pre-season game is September 22 at home against the Minnesota Wild. The Jets open the regular season on the road October 9 in Arizona against the Coyotes.
