Stabbing in Maple Ridge leaves young man in serious condition

VANCOUVER — A 20-year-old man is in serious condition after being stabbed in Maple Ridge on Sunday night.

Police were called to the Ridge Meadows Hospital just after 11 p.m., after a young male walked in complaining of being stabbed.

Investigators spoke to the victim’s friends and believe the stabbing happened near the Meadow Town Centre Mall, which is on the Pitt Meadows-Maple Ridge border. According to Insp. Dan Splinter, the investigation is still continuing but police do not feel this was a random attack. Currently police have no suspects in custody.

The victim is in serious condition and remains in hospital.

RCMP’s Serious Crimes Unit has now taken over the investigation.
