VANCOUVER — A wildfire is burning north of Princeton, off the Princeton/Summerland Highway.
It started Sunday evening, but grew quickly because of strong winds.
Officials say it is about 80 hectares in size now.
There are currently 30 fire personnel fighting the fire. A crew has been on scene all night, and more crews are expected to be deployed later this morning.
The cause of the fire is under investigation, but authorities believe it was human caused.
Air tankers responded to the flames initially, and more aerial support is expected today. Currently, five air tankers and a helicopter have been dispatched. More resources are joining the effort this morning.
There are no evacuation alerts currently in place, but there are structures within 600 metres of the flames.
The fire is currently not contained.
