Air quality survey part of Kelowna door-to-door scam

Kelowna RCMP stopped two Regina men Wednesday for soliciting door-to-door without a permit, ID or a business license. They believed the two men to be scammers. File/Global News

KELOWNA, B.C. – Police are warning Kelowna residents about a door-to-door scam that begins with an offer of a prize and a free in-home air quality assessment.

On September 11th, RCMP were called to Wintergreen Drive, near Gordon and Lanfranco roads in Kelowna’s Mission, when two men solicited a resident for personal information.

Police attended and located the men said to be with a company called Northern Air Solutions in Saskatchewan. They had been conducting what police say was a false survey on home air quality.

Neither were able to provide police with any information about their company: no photo ID, no business cards or valid business licence.

RCMP asked the 24-year-olds from Regina to cease any further door to door solicitation until permits could be obtained by the by-law office.
