TORONTO – German astronaut Alexander Gerst is giving us an idea of what it’s like living in space.

Gerst has been aboard the International Space Station since May 28. Since then, he has been photographing and filming life out his window.

The European Space Agency (ESA) didn’t just create a timelapse of some of his images and videos, but created it in 4K – a new form of ultra high-definition.

“The montage is made from a long sequence of still photographs taken at a resolution of 4256 x 2832 pixels at a rate of one every second,” the ESA said in its description of the video. “The high resolution allowed the ESA production team to create a 3840 x 2160 pixel movie, also known as Ultra HD or 4K.”
