NDP: Post-secondary education

NDP leader Dominic Cardy was at the University of New Brunswick Wednesday, unveiling his party’s plan to help post-secondary education students.

Cardy says he’ll introduce a ‘Free in 8’ program that would mean every graduate could afford to pay off their student loan in eight years or get the help they need to make those payments. The program would cost about $1.8-million in the first year, and $3.7-million by year four.

He also promised a student retention initiative to remove the required parental and spousal contributions from student loans. This would cost $1.6-million per year.
