- A man is dead after being struck by a truck near Yonge-Dundas Square early Wednesday morning. Police say the incident happened around 6:30 a.m. Toronto EMS say the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
- Halton Region police say a U.S. fugitive has been spotted in Oakville, and are warning he’s considered violent and dangerous. Police say Anthony Joseph Maiorano was in a vehicle that failed to stop for a traffic stop in Oakville on Tuesday.
- A man’s body has been recovered from the rubble of a house that collapse while under renovation in north Toronto. It took several hours before crews could remove the body of the 19-year-old man on Tuesday night.
- Mayoral candidate John Tory is riding high in public opinion with a significant gap over his rivals Rob Ford and Olivia Chow, according to a new poll. The survey conducted on Monday puts Tory in the lead with 40 per cent support, Ford in second with 28 per cent, and Chow in third at 21 per cent.
- Police are searching for the driver of a car who slammed into a TTC bus shelter overnight. The incident happened on Jane Street near the corner of Courage Avenue just before midnight.
- Students will need deeper pockets to study at Canadian universities over the next four years with annual fees projected to rise 13 per cent on average to $7,755, having almost tripled over the past 20 years, according to a new report.
