Naked man bites Prince Albert, Sask. police dog

PRINCE ALBERT, Sask. – The Prince Albert Police Service says a naked suspect assaulted their police dog while being arrested south of Prince Albert, Sask. Tuesday morning.

At 2:32 a.m., police were called to the area of Little Red Park for a family dispute.

Officers were advised that a male suspect, believed to be under the influence of drugs, had fled the area in a car.

While crossing the Diefenbaker Bridge the suspect vehicle was observed driving southbound into oncoming traffic.

Police say the suspect drove dangerously in attempts to evade officers.

The suspect vehicle continued driving into northbound traffic down 2nd Avenue West and onto Highway 2 south of the city.

When the speeding suspect vehicle attempted to turn onto Highway 11 it slid into a ditch.

The 20-year-old driver exited the vehicle, naked, and fled on foot.

A police dog named ‘Jagger’ assisted in apprehending the suspect. According to police, Jagger was bitten on the top of the head and punched during the arrest.

Jagger was hurt but did not require medical attention from a veterinarian.

The man was taken to Victoria Hospital where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries.

He now faces charges of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, failing to stop for police, resisting arrest and cruelty to animals. As of Wednesday, he has not yet appeared in court.

Jagger was back in service on Wednesday.
