Police dog handlers and their canine companions from across Western Canada will converge on Kelowna this week for a friendly competition.
The Canadian Police Canine Association Dog Championships starts Thursday at the Apple Bowl.
The public is invited to attend on the final day Sunday for demonstrations of dog obedience, agility and suspect apprehension.
“People really enjoy watching this because there will be the opportunity for some people to meet the dogs and see just how playful they are with their handlers out in the field,” says Kelowna RCMP Cst. Chris Brinnen.
Admission to the Sunday demonstrations is free but donations to the BC Childrens’ Hospital are encouraged.
