Carolina Panthers kicker practices in the middle of marching band performance

WATCH: Kicker practices while marching band is performing; shoves band member

Carolina Panthers kicker Graham Gano wanted to get some practice in during half time. Unfortunately, the marching band was taking up the majority of the field.

But Graham Gano was going to get his reps in no matter what.

The kicker marched on to the field, spotted the ball and took aim at the uprights. At one point, he needed a little separation, pushing one of the band members out of the way while they were performing.

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

“I was kind of enjoying hearing them play,” Gano said jokingly in a post-game interview. “It is just an unfortunate situation and I do feel bad about it, but that was the only time I could get my work in.”

Panthers’ running back DeAngelo Williams was quick to come to the defence of his team-mate when he was asked about the incident.

“He shoved a trombone player? I don’t believe that happened, you are going to have to show me film of that.” DeAngelo responded with a smirk as Gano stood in the background laughing. “You guys are viciously and maliciously attacking Graham Gano because he’s a nice guy.”

Sadly, the practice did not pay off right away, with Gano missing his first field goal attempt of the half. But Gano got redemption, hitting a 33 yard attempt in one of the last plays of the game.
