- Police are investigating a series of suspicious fires in downtown Toronto early Monday morning. A total number of seven vehicles were torched in the Esplanade and Church Street area around midnight, including a U-Haul van.
- Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton, are expecting their second child. In an official press release, the Duchess has been suffering from severe morning sickness after announcing her second pregnancy.
- A 50-year-old man charged with failing to stop at a red light and careless driving in the death of 7-year-old Georgia Walsh is scheduled to appear in court Monday. Walsh was killed at the intersection of Millwood and McRae Drive in July when she was struck by a car.
- A shooting has taken the life of a 20-year-old man in Brampton. The incident happened at the Brampton Towers apartments around 7:30 p.m. Sunday night.
- A new study out of the Fraser Institute contends that financial bonuses and other incentives for teachers should be based on student achievement if Canadians want to remain competitive on the world stage.
- Children’s kidney and thyroid cancers have increased in recent years, and though the diseases are rare, experts wonder if the rising rates could be related to obesity.
