Stolen pickup truck rams RCMP vehicles while trying to escape

ARCHERWILL, Sask. – Two Saskatchewan RCMP vehicles were damaged after authorities used them to block off the escape of suspects who stole a truck.

On Sept. 4, Mounties received a report where an unknown man had walked into a garage in the village of Archerwill, Sask. and was chased away by the residence’s owner.

Shortly after, the man and other suspects stole a pickup truck from a nearby home.

The stolen vehicle was intercepted on the Yellow Quill First Nation.

RCMP blocked off an escape route resulting in the suspect vehicle ramming the police vehicles three times. Two police vehicles and the stolen truck were damaged but no one was hurt.

The stolen vehicle then drove off and got stock in a slough before three suspects got out and fled on foot.

A woman and the male driver were arrested and have been charged.

The driver was previously wanted for a dozen charges stemming from a prior incident on the Yellow Quill First Nation. He is now facing 27 charges and has been remanded in custody.

RCMP say the third suspect, who is believed to be an adult man, escaped on foot.

The investigation is still ongoing.
