Olds RCMP is investigating a deadly two vehicle collision south of Bowden.
Early Sunday morning, a light blue Buick Riviera was heading north on the Queen Elizabeth Highway when it ran into the rear of a parked semi truck early Sunday morning.
RCMP say the semi was parked at a rest stop with its lights on when the car hit it.
The 23 year old man that was driving the car and a female passenger both died at the scene.
“The semi was legally parked,” says RCMP officer Joe Sangster.”The passenger car ran into the rear of the semi, it’s all driver error”.
The driver of the semi truck was not injured in the collision which shut down the north bound lanes of the highway for several hours.
RCMP say alcohol isn’t a factor but continue to look into whether speed played a part in the crash.
Mounties are in the process of notifying next of kin.
