Cyclist in critical condition after Rosemont collision

MONTREAL – A cyclist is fighting for his life after a collision with a car late Friday night in Rosemont-La-Petite-Patrie.

The accident happened around 11:50 p.m. on the corner of Christophe-Colomb avenue and Saint-Zotique street East, not far from Beaubien metro.

According to a witness, the 29-year-old cyclist ran a red light as he was heading west on Saint-Zotique.

The car, which was heading north on Christophe-Colomb, collided with him at the intersection.

The cyclist was taken to hospital with serious head injuries, though police say he was wearing a helmet.

He remains in critical condition.

The driver of the car was unharmed.
