Alberta native Tommy Chong blazes onto ‘Dancing With The Stars’

TORONTO — Canadian comedian Tommy Chong will be among the celebrity competitors on the upcoming season of Dancing With The Stars.

Chong is best known as half of the comedy duo Cheech & Chong and also appeared on That ’70s Show. Born in Edmonton, he was raised in Calgary.

The 76-year-old star will challenge actress Lea Thompson, Fresh Prince star Alfonso Ribeiro, UFC champion Randy Couture, NASCAR driver Michael Waltrip, Duck Dynasty star Sadie Robertson, Olympian Lolo Jones, fashion designer Betsey Johnson, talk show host Tavis Smiley, YouTube star Bethany Mota, and actors Antonio Sabato Jr., Jonathan Bennett and Janel Parrish.

Last year, Chong said he beat prostate cancer with a treatment regimen that included hemp oil.

Season 19 of Dancing With The Stars premieres Sept. 15.
