WATCH: Laid-off CNN reporter says goodbye with amazing video

In a final farewell to her colleagues, a CNN reporter signed off from the news network with a humorous report about being laid off.

In a video posted to YouTube, Capitol Hill reporter Lisa Desjardins thanks CNN for “some incredible years,” but also manages to get in some parting shots at her employer.

Desjardins’ report takes a look at the hundreds of layoffs facing Turner Networks, which could affect roughly 600 people across CNN and its affiliates.

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

For the video, Desjardins put together a “word cloud” of the most common words and phrases her fellow CNN colleagues have used in goodbye emails. While words like “Gmail,” and “thank you” were among the most common, the f-word, “sucks” and “I licked all the eighth floor coffee cups” also appear on the list.

Desjardins is then filmed stealing office supplies, including a first-aid kit before lamenting cutbacks on political coverage by television networks.

“Of course, I’m sorry that CNN has decided to eliminate my reporter position on the Hill and cut back on congressional coverage,” Desjardins said. “Of course, I’m also sorry that Congress is such a complete mess right now. But, maybe that means we should watch them more closely.”

The video ends with her thanking CNN and “for making sure that I was, in fact, part of the Great Recession.”

Included in Desjardins’ comical list of thank yous are Washington Redskins owner Dan Snyder and “the nation of Estonia.”
