Vancouver police along with a canine unit nabbed a high-risk sex offender after an overnight residential break in.
Officers were called to the 1000-block of East 21st Avenue yesterday at 7:30 a.m. after a person saw a man breaking into the garage attached to a home. The concerned citizen verbally challenged the suspect, who then left the scene with several stolen items from the garage.
With the help of the VPD canine unit, they were able to track the male suspect a few blocks away from the crime.
The 50-year-old man, who is well-known to police, was arrested and taken into custody.
Charges of break and enter have been requested and man is being held in jail until his court date on Thursday.
All of the stolen items were recovered.
