CALGARY- A major house fire broke out in southeast Calgary on Wednesday afternoon.
The blaze broke out at noon along the 500 block of Lake Bonavista Drive, and sent a thick black plume of smoke into the sky.
A witness tells Global News that a vehicle in the garage caught fire, and the blaze quickly spread and engulfed the home. It suffered severe structural damage, and a neighbouring home was also damaged.
Two people escaped safely from the home, and a dog and cat were rescued by firefighters. Fortunately there were no injuries.
Fire crews are now investigating the cause, but say there were pressurized tanks in the garage at the time.
