Man who groped university student won’t face criminal charges
CALGARY- A man who police were searching for in connection with a groping incident will not face criminal charges.
Police were contacted earlier this month after an 18-year-old woman was forcibly hugged by a man, while walking across the University of Calgary campus.
He has since been identified, and officers say he has mental health and behavioural issues.
After speaking with both the man and his social worker, it was determined that criminal charges would not serve the public interest. Instead, a plan for increased supervision is in place.
