A large fire destroyed a building in Surrey this morning.

A two-storey, wood-framed abandoned home was burning in a wooded area around 16th Avenue and 176 Street near several homes.

Fire crews were quickly on scene, shutting down 16th Avenue between 168th and 176th Street.

According to Battalion Chief Steve Zecchel, firefighters never entered the building, but flames did not spread to the trees.

The fire is now put out, and there are no reports of any injuries.

The cause of the fire is currently unknown.
