WINNIPEG — A man tried to lure a five-year-old boy from the splash pad at Central Park this weekend, police say.
A mother and son were playing at the downtown park at around 12:30 p.m. Sunday when a man approached the boy and tried to pull him away from his parent.
The man used candy and money to get the boy to come with him, police said.
A lifeguard on duty noticed what was happening and intervened. The man then left the area.
Cops are looking for a man described as black, approximately 25 years old and 5-foot-6 with a slim build.
He was wearing a red hooded jacket, green shorts and a gold necklace and was carrying a green and black Thomas the train backpack.
The investigation continues. Anyone with information is asked to contact Winnipeg police or Crime Stoppers.
