OLIVER — A trio of thieves in Oliver was looking for a big payout in a smash and grab at a local gas station.
At around 4:20 a.m. Thursday police say a flatbed truck continually rammed the glass doors at EZ Fuel on Highway 97 until they shattered. Once the doors were broken in, two men rushed inside and headed straight for the ATM. Police say the pair made multiple attempts to steal the bank machine, but were unsuccessful. Attendants at the gas station say nothing ended up being stolen from the store.
The first suspect was wearing a blue workman jacket, stands between 5’11” and 6’0″ and is roughly 165 lbs. The second suspect donned an orange mask, is between 5’6″ and 5’8″ and roughly 150 lbs.
The third suspect was driving the getaway vehicle, an older model green dodge.
Police say the suspect vehicle was located a short distance away a mere 10 minutes after the break-in. When it was found, it was on fire. Anyone with information is asked to call the Oliver RCMP or Crimestoppers.
