We’ve had our fair share of feel-good “cycling across the country” stories on the Morning News in the last year and a half but none quite as unique as our Friday guests. At 6:45 we’ll meet four men, all turning 60 in the summer of 2014, that have set out to cycle across Canada together in an effort to cross an item off the bucket list and also to raise money to build 60 wells to ensure clean drinking water for kids in Africa.
We’ve already featured cats on the red table earlier this week to promote a cat film festival, at 7:15 we’ll feature the cats biggest nemesis on the show. It’s being billed as Atlantic Canada’s largest dog festival. We’ll talk with the organizers of “Paws on The Common” that is set to take over the Halifax commons Emera Oval site this weekend.
Halifax restaurants are getting serious about sausage. More than 20 eateries will be participating in Sausage Fest 2014. We’ll chat with the folks behind Brooklyn Warehouse & Ace Burger Friday at 7:45.
The Big Swim is bigger than ever this year! Sunday’s event is set to raise more than a quarter of a million dollars for Brigadoon Village. At 8:15 we’ll chat with Heather McGrath of GIVETOLIVE and 14-year-old Cali Bruce, who plans to break a record for youngest swimmer to make the trek from New Brunswick to PEI.
