A man has turned himself into police, saying he was the driver involved in a hit-and-run in Port Coquitlam last month.

Bruce Rickman was cycling at Mary Hill Bypass and Kingsway when he was struck on July 30. He suffered serious injuries.

The driver fled the scene.

RCMP announced today that a man came forward on August 9 and identified himself as the driver.

Police say he is co-operating with their investigation but they are still hoping to speak with witnesses.

“Even with this new development, we still need anyone with any information, no matter how minor you may think it is, to tell investigators what you know,” said Corporal Jamie Chung. “Sometimes the most ‘trivial’ evidence can impact an investigation enormously, and only investigators can determine the value of the information you may have.”

Anyone with information is asked to call Traffic Services investigators at 604-945-1550 and quote file number 2014-21316.
