REGINA – Talks aimed at fixing the deficit-ridden City of Regina pension plan resume this week.

The civic employees’ pension is in danger of being cancelled because of 290-million dollars in red ink.

The city and various employer groups have been at odds over how to eliminate the deficit, but Mayor Michael Fougere says all sides have agreed to return to the table to find a solution.

Fougere says time is of the essence because cancellation of the plan could mean reduced benefits and a significant cost to taxpayers.
