A 41-year-old woman is recovering from bite wounds after an attempted carjacking Monday afternoon.
Police say the woman was driving southbound on Main St. near East Broadway just before 2 p.m. when the incident occurred. As she stopped for the light, a man jumped through her open passenger window and tried to grab the keys from the ignition.
The woman managed to fight the man off, but not before he bit her in the arm. Passersby helped restrain the man until police arrived.
24-year-old Dustin Edward MacDonald of Burnaby is facing charges of robbery and assault causing bodily harm.
He is known to police and appeared in provincial court Tuesday morning.
