Riders Chick and Messam both named CFL players of the week

REGINA – The Saskatchewan Roughriders have announced that John Chick and Jerome Messam have each been named a CFL player of the week.

Chick was named defensive player of the week – the Wyoming native had three sacks and registered five tackles in the Riders 23-17 victory over the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

This is the second time this season that Chick has earned the honour.

Messam was named the CFL’s top Canadian after he rushed for 126 yards on 19 carries.

This is the seventh time in Messam’s career that he has picked up player of the week honours.

The Riders next game is Saturday at 5:00 p.m. when the Montreal Alouettes visit Mosaic Stadium.
