Kelowna Man found with Loaded Handgun

KELOWNA – A 23-year old Kelowna man is facing numerous criminal charges after police say he was found with a loaded handgun in the downtown area.

It was around noon on Saturday when a police officer on patrol was approached by several witnesses saying that a man was brandishing a handgun and threatening to harm himself.

Police quickly scoured the area looking for the man.

They located him a short time later in the 700 block of Saucier Avenue.

The man was arrested without incident.

Although uninjured, he was taken to hospital to be checked over.

The young Kelowna man is now facing possible criminal charges of carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and unauthorized possession of a weapon.

He was released into the care of medical practitioners with a promise to appear in court on September 11th.
