UPDATE: Victim of homicide in White Rock identified; suspect charged

UPDATE: The victim has been identified by police as 61-year-old Bruce Alexander Ridout. An autopsy is scheduled for later today. Jeffrey Caille, 22, has been charged with one count of second degree murder, one count of assault causing bodily harm and two counts of assault. Caille will be appearing in court today.

Police tape is around a White Rock home in the city’s first homicide of the year.

Officers responded to an altercation at the home located in the 900-block of Ash Street Sunday night.

When police arrived, they found two injured women and an injured man in his 40s. The women were taken to hospital, where they were treated and released. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say a suspect was seen throwing various objects including knives off of the home’s balcony. He was arrested by police after he tried to flee on foot.

Charges of second degree murder and two counts of assault causing bodily harm are being recommended against the 22-year-old suspect.

“There were several witnesses in the area at the time of this occurrence and IHIT is asking witnesses, who haven’t spoken with police to come forward with information,” says S/Sgt. Jennifer Pound.

Investigators are not revealing of the man’s identity or a motive for the murder.
