UPDATE: Drought Hill forest fire near Peachland 75 per cent contained

The Drought Hill forest fire near Peachland is dying down as fire crews work towards full containment today.

The 40-hectare fire is now estimated to be 75 per cent contained and is completely guarded. It is suspected to be human caused.

A family whose property was under evacuation order has been downgraded to an evacuation alert.

That home was located on the 4700 block of MacKinnon Road.

Forty firefighters will be on site today to help extinguish hot spots.

Boaters are being asked to stay clear while firefighting aircraft reload with water in Okanagan Lake.

All lanes of the nearby Highway 97C are now open.
