MONTREAL — A 36-year-old man was arrested after a two-year old child was struck by a car on Thursday afternoon on Mackenzie Street near Cote-des-Neiges Road.

The accident happened at around 4:30 p.m. The child was taken to hospital, but his injuries were minor.

Collision experts are investigating to determine how the accident occurred and whether it was a hit and run.

“A 36-year-old man was arrested near the scene a few minutes after,” Montreal police spokesperson Simone Delorme told Global News.

“He left the scene and then came back after.”

Investigators will review the evidence to determine whether there is enough evidence to press charges against the driver.
