WINNIPEG — Crews spent Monday night battling a house fire in Sturgeon Creek.
Firefighters were called to the 600 block of Muriel Avenue around 8 p.m. Thick smoke could be seen billowing from the house.

Fire officials on scene said the blaze started in the basement of the house.
The one person living inside the home got out on his own.
No word yet on what caused the fire or how much damage was done.
