TORONTO – Five people were injured in a shooting in Toronto’s Liberty Village neighbourhood this morning.

Police say three suffered bullet wounds, one was hit by a car and one was hurt in a fight.

Police estimate that 10-15 bullets were fired in or near the parking lot behind Lamport Stadium (near King St. W. and Dufferin St.) as people were leaving a nightclub following a Caribana-themed party.

A resident of the neighbourhood said she heard gunshots at approximately 3:30 a.m.

She said that from her balcony she could see people running around the parking lot screaming and scrambling to get into dozens of cars that were soon speeding away from the area.

Police say the five people were treated by local hospitals. One remains in hospital.
