B.C. borders, ferries very busy for start of long weekend

VANCOUVER – It appears as if many people are getting out of town this long weekend as the border crossings and BC Ferries are already seeing long  lineups and wait times.

Going southbound people are currently waiting about an-hour-and-a-half on average at the border crossings, with the shortest wait being at the Sumas crossing, which is about 30 minutes.

The BC Ferries are also very busy this morning.

Ferries heading to Vancouver Island from the mainland are seeing the busiest sailings and some are already full.

The Horseshoe Bay to Departure Bay route is already full for the 8:30 a.m. and 10:05 a.m. sailings.

Swartz Bay to Fulford Harbour is completely full for the 8:30 a.m. sailing.

The Horseshoe Bay to Langdale 9 a.m. sailing is currently 91 per cent full.
