Widows of fallen Moncton Mounties ‘grateful’ for fundraising support

MONCTON – Support has poured in for an education fund to help the families of the three fallen RCMP officers, and it has the widows of the officers saying thanks.

Angela Gevaudan, Rachael Ross and Nadine Larche spoke to Global News Thursday after hearing about a fundraiser to support the RCMP Moncton Educational Trust Fund.

The fund will ensure the educational needs of the six children of Constables Dave Ross, Fabrice Gevaudan and Douglas Larche will be met.

“We’re all very grateful,” said Gevaudan. “It was a priority for all of our husbands, to ensure that our children had a proper education and this will insure that.”

Casino New Brunswick will host an entertainment dinner in September, with all the proceeds going toward the trust fund.

“It’s all very touching because you know that someone’s taken the time to think of you and send you positive thoughts and that’s what we need right now,” she said.

WATCH: Global’s Brion Robinson spoke to the three widows of the fallen officers of the Moncton shooting. They met at Casino New Brunswick to support an educational trust fund for their children. An anonymous $150,000 donation has already been added to the pot.

Ross says the support from around the world is helping the families get through an incredibly difficult time.

“I think we’re all very grateful and very humbled by the support,” she said.

Nadine Larche says the fund will help her girls realize their dreams.

“All my girls want to be officers and part-time RCMP members,” she said. “The funds will definitely help support my girls and Dave’s and Fab’s children.”

The mother of three says they’re taking it day by day, but they know how proud their husbands would be to see the outpouring of support.

“They would want us to be well-taken care of and our children to be well taken care of and educated to their full potential,” Larche said.
