Charges laid in Airdrie house explosion

AIRDRIE – RCMP have laid charges in connection to a house explosion in Airdrie at the end of January.

Emergency crews rushed to a home on Kings Heights Road S.E. just after 10 p.m. on Friday, January, 31st.

They arrived to find significant damage inside the home.

The blast shook the interior walls of the duplex, and RCMP said at the time they believed the explosion may have been drug-related.

Two people severely injured in the blast were transported to the Foothills Hospital in Calgary in critical condition.

On Thursday, RCMP announced Airdrie’s Trevor Urquhart and St-Albert’s Matthew Visser were both facing charges of production of a controlled substance and arson.

They are scheduled to make their first court appearance on September 18th, 2014.
