Locking your doors at night is a good way to protect your property – assuming there’s a lock for your doggie door, as well.
That’s the lesson for one Houston home after a would-be bandit broke in around 2:30 in the morning Monday, entering the locked home by crawling through the doggie door.
Unfortunately, he was unaware his actions were being recorded on a nearby security camera.
According to KHOU News in Houston, occupants Tony Ragsdale and Doug Eldridge were away in Galveston, Texas for the night when they got a call from their alarm company about the break-in.
Luckily Pancho and Buddy – the doggie door’s normal users – were in another part of the house at the time.
Lucky for the burglar, that is.
“I wish my dog was on the other side,” said Eldridge. “It would’ve been nice for him to get bit or something.”
But it doesn’t end there.
The man decided to make off with a bicycle, but he appears to have some difficulty riding it, crashing spectacularly on the front driveway just a couple of steps from the house.
And yes, that part was caught on camera too.
Houston police are now looking for anyone with information about the suspect’s identity.
