Tropical Storm Hernan moves away from Baja California

TORONTO – Tropical Storm Hernan, which formed on Saturday, is moving away from Baja California out to the Pacific Ocean.

The storm formed as a tropical depression off the coast of Mexico Saturday morning, Pacific time, and quickly developed into a tropical storm that afternoon.

The tropical storm is moving northwest, away from land, at 26 km/h. It is expected to turn west by Wednesday.

The maximum sustained wind has decreased slightly from 120 km/h to 100 km/h with higher gusts.

Hernan is the eighth storm of the Pacific hurricane season.
