TORONTO — Nearly two dozen people were taken to hospital and more than 50 others were taken into protective custody at a Keith Urban concert Saturday night in Massachusetts.
According to the Boston Herald, several police and fire departments responded to the Xfinity Center in Mansfield — about 45 minutes south of Boston — to deal with fans who got sick, passed out or injured themselves.
Police said of 46 people treated on scene, 22 were taken to hospital. Alcohol was a key factor.
“Police dealt with a steady stream of intoxicated persons as well, resulting in over 50 people being taken into protective custody and a number of others arrested for alcohol-related issues,” read a statement from officials.
The concert promoter said there were 18,000 fans at the show.
Urban, currently on his Raise ‘Em Up Tour, took to Twitter later and called it a “killer” night and “nutso.”
